There are many homes that I love and find inspiring, but few that I think I could walk right into and not change a thing. Well, while perusing one of my favorite blogs this morning, Miss Moss, I came across a few images of Anouck Lepere’s apartment (she is a supermodel in case you are wondering why her home aaaand her face are so amazing).
The moment my eyes rested on the ochre leather sofa, I was finished. So I followed Miss Moss’s link to the original home tour from Nowness. I then sat and stared with my mouth wide open for an extended period of time (I am pretty sure there was some drool involved.)

I recently have been lucky enough to have the opportunity to work with an amazing couple here in New Orleans on their very first home together. They purchased this home in January of last year, but have basically not touched it since they moved in.
They have no furniture that they want to keep, so I was given a clean slate, which is like really good music to an interior designer’s ears. The home also has a great flow, amazing wood floors through out, and needs no major renovation work. All perks. Pluuuuus, the owners have great taste! From what I can tell, they like classic pieces with modern accents. Neutral color palettes with spots of fun color. An overall comfortable and sophisticated vibe which uses color as the edge factor.
I presented two schemes to them and this is Scheme 1′s living room and entry. I will let you see Scheme 2 tomorrow. I cannot wait to hear your feedback and preferences?! Scheme 1 uses an overall warmer color palette with red and blue as accent colors. It also is the less costly option. Enjoy!

Continuing on our easy and accessible updates tour this week, let us visit the bathroom. Bathrooms are expensive to update, falling in line right behind kitchens as the most common renovation budget breakers. Which is why a full renovation of my 1930′s – 1950′s bathroom is out of the question for the moment. But this does not mean that I deserve a 20 year old toilet that was rusted out and always looked dirty (yeah, gross) and a shower head that was a disappointment every morning. So I got new ones! I freaked out (as usual) and went to Home Depot and bought this toilet, this shower head, and went ahead and sprung for the slow close seat. With the help of the handy fella in my life, everything was installed within 2 hours. I screwed the shower head in all by myself. Proud? And if you rent,
do not fret, you would be surprised how many landlords will pay for the new fixtures if you do the install. Now I have a much cleaner and newer feeling bathroom that also happens to be about 3X more water efficient.
